Spark Operating Frequencies

M2M One NZ SIM cards operate and connect to Spark NZ's cellular networks.

5G

Spark 5G network uses N78.

5G NSA

Spark's initial 5G deployment is ‘NSA’ (non-stand-alone). What this means is that a device first needs to connect to 4G before it can connect to 5G. This means that at minimum, a device must support both LTE 2100MHz (B1) and 5G (N78).

4G

Spark supports the following 4G/LTE operating frequencies:

  1. Essential:
    1. LTE 2100MHz (B1)
    2. LTE 700MHz (B28)
    3. LTE 1800MHz (B3)
  2. Recommended:
    1. LTE 2300MHz (B40)
    2. LTE 2600MHz (B7)

Cat-M1

Spark supports Cat-M1 over the same 4G/LTE operating frequencies:

  • LTE 700MHz (Band 28)
  • LTE 1800MHz (Band 3)

NB-IoT

Spark supports NB-IoT over the same 4G/LTE operating frequencies:

  • LTE 700MHz (Band 28)
  • LTE 1800MHz (Band 3)

3G

Spark supports the following 3G/WCDMA operating frequencies:

  • 3G 850MHz (Band 5)
  • 3G 2100MHz (Band 1)
If your device isn't compatible with 3G 850MHz (B5), it won't work on Spark's 3G network.

2G (not supported)

The following 2G/GSM frequencies are not operational and not supported by Spark's network:

  • 2G 900MHz
  • 2G 1800MHz
